A World So Large

A world so unbelievably large
Yet I float on in an empty barge
A cistern, a cavern, a dark pit
The places where my future is knit
Slowly, together, stitch by long stitch
Suffocating each and every itch
But I am learning to see the stars
Music of nature in notes and bars
Navigating by light, not the dark
Setting a course and finding my mark
Begun an Ordinary Seaman
One day I’ll be a Captain who can
Adroitly steer for any waters
No matter how far the ship totters
I’ll be level and at the ready
Steady. Sure. Even in an eddy
A world so unbelievably vast
I will strive until my net is cast
