Here you will find a universe of words, crafted and arranged into sentiments, ideas, and metaphors, most often with rhythmic forms. These locutions capture and express the subterranean wilds of the conscious that we all experience, but which only some are brave enough to sit with.

Benjamin deLeeuwerk is a poet and artist residing in northern Colorado.

His writing is inspired predominately by nature, travel, and psychology and behavior — both from his internal sphere and that of the surrounding world. Perhaps embodying the quintessential artist figure, conflicted and afflicted, his writings often hinge from the deeper, tantalizing, existential concerns around being and belonging. Sewn throughout, you will also discover a gleeful appreciation for the simple, aesthetic, and magic that is laced within this chaotic world.

Benjamin was born and raised in the ever lovely Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

With green rolling hills and Blue Ridge Mountain views, natural beauty was a third parent to a youngest child of three. Matched with an emotionally unavailable subculture, this wayward child found comfort in the structure and endless potential of words. Journal after journal has honed and developed Benjamin’s love for conjuring and crafting words into something meaningful.

Travel = Curiosity

So much of who Benjamin is today stems from his geographical portfolio. As an amateur nomad and faithful zealot of traveling, he has had privilege to visit several countries, all 50 of the somewhat united states, along with living in inspirational locales like Alaska and Washington. Exposure to culture is one of the richest elements in life, and that has cultivated a unique ability in Benjamin to maintain curiosity and see things with a particular flavor of perspective.

“I’ve always harbored twisted fears of what others would think of my thoughts, feelings, and my public expression of them. In fact, I tried this website idea once before, but external disapproval ignited my internal disapproval and I scrapped it all.”

Fortunately, through an intense, immense, and ongoing journey of self discovery and development (along with some encouragement) Benjamin has decided to chance it again, to whatever end. As it has been said,

“It’s never too late to start, it’s always too late to wait.”
